Mawingu
Mawingu
Mawingu—translated as Clouds—is a piece that beautifully encapsulates what happens when we stare up at the clouds, dreamy-eyed. Visions of faces, limbs, people, or strange creatures form in our mind's eye, stretching our imagination in a playful daze.
As you may have noticed, the artifact does not have carvings for facial features and the faces are smoothed over instead. This is deliberately done to reflect that our dreamy cloud visions aren't crystal clear, but rather... cloudy. And there you have it. Mawingu.
Material: Handcarved from Mpingo (African Blackwood). The heaviest and most dense wood in the world.
About Design and Sizes: Sizes are approximate because each piece is handmade, and your personal artifact will naturally have a different design than the photos. By contacting us, you may request images of available artifacts to confirm exact appearance and sizes before ordering. We also accept custom orders.
